VENT HAVEN ROCKS!!!!! I had a blast learning from the best, and meeting all of my Vent friends from this site! I cannot wait till next year! I got 3 new Axtell puppets:
The Mini Magic Drawing Board
Pedro Parrot
Ssidney The Ssilly Ssnake!!
Actually, there is a really neat story behind my getting Ssidney. My parents new that I REALLY want her, so they got it for me as a surprise! It was the end of the ConVENTion, and I had no money left, and I told my mom that I really wanted Ssidney. She talked with Mary Fry, one of the nicest people in the universe, and bought it. But what my mom did was have Mary take Ssidney off the table, so when I went back, it looked like someone else had already bought Ssidney. Then, my grandmother went back and paid for it, and hid it in her room. On Sunday, we were driving home and we stopped to eat at a diner. When I get back to the Van, I open the door, and to my surprise, Ssidney was Ssitting right there on the Sseat all coiled up! My family and I just want to thank Mary Fry for playing along!!
Now, I want to here about what you thought of Vent Haven!! Again, I thought it ROCKED
Wow what a great sstory! I'm so glad you got it! I am at the IBM/SAM Magic convention right now... I'll write more later.

Hi Matt..good to met you at vent haven. We just got back at five last night(Tues.)My Tookish side is satisfied since we had an adventure on the way home and were delayed. I'll do a post mortem on the convention later. I agree, Mary Fry was a stupendous influence at the event.

Steve, is there anyway you can shrink this photo for those who are still on dial-up?
Also, if anyone is in the pic and would like to let everyone know who you are then describe your puppet and your clothes and we'll try to find you.

Okay, young Matt is in front of the one and only Wilma and behind the lad with his eyes closed.
Axtell reps, Mary Fry and her husband and the remote bird are obvious. Vent, Seymour Grafadnik of Conception Bay has borrowed my Axtell vinyl chimp and Dennis behind in the red shirt is a school principal or superintendent from the east coast. Killer vent, Mark James is on the far left in a white shirt trying to escape..Mark is really one of my favourites because he's so out there. I can't find good bud, John Hopper of Tennessee. I recognize a few more but I'm more familiar with those who stayed at the Drawbridge for the four days.

Unmasked by my good southern friend

In fact, I just wrote a note to John this evening thanking him for his kindness in forwarding the Vent Haven photo to me.I received it this afternoon. In our part of the county they run the phone lines across the fields through the barbed wire fences and the internet photos won't download. (okay-the Pinnochio syndrome is underway!)
John, as many of you know,is a cracker jack magician and vent and does a lot of work especially in schools. We met at Vent Haven last year and renewed the friendship this July.
John was kind enough to introduce me to a few illusions including a much simpler and more kid-friendly (att'n Monsieur Borders)trick which I think is better than Rope Through The Neck. Yes John, as you warned the tiny, Velcro strip did come off and the Costume Department just sewed it on. By the way, John I have found a group of magicians from the next two counties who meet monthly and have invited me to attend. I am also considering joining the Central Ontario area ring.
It's funny, I got into vent to try and say gottle of geer. I still don't do that well, but this handicap is more than off set by the friends I have met at Vent Haven and on the Axtell site.
