Hey Steve, I wonder if Disney would ever go for making a limited release of certain muppet characters to be made into Axtell latex puppets ? It would be awesome to have a statler and waldorf set from axtell!

They are doing the photo posers with master replicas, why not a latex set of puppet (it would not be like the real ones due to them being made with antron fleece ect)

Thoughts?

my thoughts,
1) disney has its own merchandising arm and doesn't like sharing it with others.
2) the franchise fees charged ax woould probably be out of sight.
3) disney would probably deny giving performance rights with the puppets. (personal experience. I bought a "figment" puppet years ago when disney shut down that ride, with it, i got performance rights. when they decided to reopen the ride, i was informed that they were taking back the rights. the issue is not yet resovled)
4) i think ax's characters are better!

I agree some what about disney and how they play hardball. But just like any other puppets made of their characters, they would not have to look like the real ones. Kermit would be a latex version, not fleece,

It would be basically just like the veggie tale line. same situation.

Even Veggie Tale puppets came with stipulations about how they could be used. If you were using them for pay you had to use them with the real Veggie Tale voices or songs. They didn't want you recreating the character they had established. If you tried using Larry as something other than their cucumber you might find yourself in a real pickle!

Of course that would be cool, not everyone does paying gigs. more of a collector thing I guess. Still waiting to see what steve thinks about it.

Disney and Henson would never authorize professional puppet replicas of the Muppets for use by professional entertainers. Think about why.

I am however in discussions with Big Idea about bringing back the Veggies. I'll let you know if that happens.
