This assignment was to select a topic from which one could write a comedy sketch. I selected the Christmas Bible and here are some research notes:
Facts About the Bible:
the word bible(biblia) means books
it was written by many different people who were guided by the spirit of God while writing them.
The Hebrews(a.k.a. Israelites or Jews), were a tiny, wandering tribe of Mid Eastern people which over many centuries built up a collection of stories, songs, prayers, meditations, and prophesies about their God Yahweh. Then in about 1 000 BC they started to write down the stories which later became the Old Testament in the Christian Bible.
Genesis Two is much older than Genesis One
In the Christian New Testament, Mark was written before Matthew.
There are two Creation stories; one in Genesis One and the other in Genesis Two
The Old Testament is not merely a record of events but also an interpretation of those happenings
The 27 books of the New Testament are not cold, impartial history (Few reporters are impartial) but the announcement of salvation through Jesus of Nazareth is contemporary
Therefore, its the message which is the important concept.
The synoptic Gospels of Matthew Mark, and Luke were written within sixty years after Jesus was executed. John is a much different, and later type of Gospel.
Okay, there's some basic info. The skeleton is being assembled and soon we'll put skin on the bones.

Baby Boomers

November 11 2008, 6:03 AM

Baby Boomers: This is a group of people born between the years 1946-1964
Some have even extended for a few years more, a few countries experienced the rise in the population during this period, 76 million babys were born in america alone during this period. The characteristics include higher education then the generation previous and life long prosperity. They have been called the sandwich generation due to the fact that they have to care for the longer life of their parents as well as their children. They went through the rock and roll era, the beatles and motown, over 40 per cent were drop outs of formal religious thinking, 1/3 never strayed from church...
they went through three major assassinations, civil rights, womans rights and gay rights movements. the saw first run television, not reruns... we were living in the now generation we were living history...we did not keep the thought of death in our minds, we were to live forever, we were to learn how to fly, stepping on the moon, going to mars and beyond. This could go on and on my friends, like the never ending story....

Give me 4!

Once you have picked a topic of expertise and studied it "religiously" you need to pick focus points. An audience can only remember 3 or 4 main points (some of us only one), so pick the MAIN points you want the audience to actually remember. If you're going strictly for entertainment that is a different story.

My focus is music: (for kids)
RAP stands for rhythm and poetry.
Music did not always have lyrics.
Poems did not always have music.
When you add music to a poem you may have a song!
There are different styles of music:
Classical, country and western, rap, and rock and roll to name a few.

My Focus is general and broad
