Now today's assignmentis the culmination of research of a topic you believe YOU could use as a comedy sketch.Now I must emphasize this is a sketch just written off your research notes. There is a formula for a comedy sketch but that's a later lesson. So here's my contribution which is submitted without tune ups:
Ron----Bern, I havent seen much of you since the US election. So what have you been doing?
Bern----Well Ive been doing something I should have done a long time ago.
Ron----I wont touch that line. So what are you doing?
BernIm studying the Bible. You made me a Catholic last month and at 69 years old I never did bible study because biblical emphasis came in again from Rome in 1962.
Ron---So what do you think so far?
Bern---- Well, the Bible has amazing relevance especially this week when GM looks like its on its way out. The Old Testament talks about two great financiers, one man and one woman.
Ron---I dont remember that. Who were these great money people?
Bern--- Well, Noah was great because he was floating his stock while everyone was in liquidation, and Pharaohs daughter was amazing because she went down to the bank of the Nile and drew out a little prophet.
Bern--- Is the Bible old?
Ron-- -Real old.
Bern---So when was Genesis One written?
Ron---- After Genesis Two.
Bern---So Genesis Two is older than Genesis One and yet in the Bible Genesis One is before Genesis Two?
Ron--- Exactly.
BernHold it! How about the New Testament stories of Matthew,Mark, Luke and John?
Ron-Well, you have the names right but not in the right order.
Bern---Hold it! Which book was written first?
Ron---- Mark, and then Matthew, and then Luke, and then long after, John.
Bern---Just a second! Youre saying that in the Old Testament, Genesis Two is older than Genesis One and in the New Testament, Mark is older than Matthew?
Ron---Right.
Bern---So youre saying that in the Old Testament the order should really be Genesis Two then Genesis One and in the New Testament the order should be Mark, Matthew, Luke and John?
Ron----Thats right but since theyre in the order that theyre in theyre just as good.
Bern---I should say so because the Bible tells us about creation.
Ron Yes, youre right, but which creation?
Bern----What do you mean,which one?
Ron---- Well, theres a creation story in Genesis One and the older creation story in Genesis Two.
Bern---Thats too fast. You remind me of Samson in the Bible.
Ron----How am I like Samson?
Bern----You bring the house down. Listen, these are confusing things youre telling me. Do they mean the Bible is wrong?
Ron Certainly not. It just shows that a book created by humans can have am odd order but the real messages of the Old and New Testaments are clear.
