Work up the scale till you pass the notes that are confortable for you now work back down the scale a few tones now do your scales again being sure your with in your range think a girls voice, if you can't listen to girls singing, even if you have a low voice girls sing in high alto.... like anything else it requires plenty of practice...Good Luck

Slide down a banaster forward. Make sure there's a decorative piece at the end...That's how I got my girly voice...Ouch...and bad memories...

Girl's voice

NJay had great suggestions about how to practice. One thing I could add would be to practice and perform doing the voice softly. If you have seen Kevin Johnson and Matilda, you know how he makes her voice very soft and gentle. This allows greater high range to be acheieved.

For an older lady voice start by imitating a parrot. (I'm serious.)

Awwwk. Hello. Hello. Well, hello, Dearie!

For a younger lady's voice picture yourself as having a hollow head. Then send the voice back into your head. (This explains a lot, actually.)

If you try and try and still can't get a girl's voice you can listen to Cher and try to sing like her.

Girly voices

Here are several ways I can attempt to do girls / women voices. Here are some actual examples for you...

Falsetto is the upper range that some have developed well. A soft falsetto can make a young girl voice. You can hear my young girl voice with Scarlet O' Fox here

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rH18lURpDV4

Take away the breathiness and a little accent and you can get a sillier girl voice like this Hippo:

Here's a little lower girl voice with Verna

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ksG2Yl222IM

Also, you can do a good high strung witchy voice like the Wildthing

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fvm7dZ5Rwv4

An Older woman with a falsetto non-breathy voice, great for British or Edith Bunker type voices. Here is my Granny Gertie voice:

Lower register woman's voices / smoker-voice types are passable if they fit the character.

Here is my Edna

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1gDMYo00R_4

Also you can do a sexy low voice like Mae West or Terry Fator's Vickii

Have Fun! Now go voice yourself.

It's amazing how easy it was for me to imagine having a hollow head. Its as empty as my wallet.

Colin, I just checked out the website you listed. Great name! You have a photo of a magic trick with an ape peeking out from behind a zoo entrance. Do you know what that trick is called and if it is still available?
