Steve

When bidding in ebay for willie the kid I was givin an option to buy him for $180. but due to a medical problem which cause me to run to the hospital I was not able to watch the bid. But I know you will give me a second option, because your kind like that. I would now like to make an offer for him...is it still available at same price? If so advise me as to what arrangement we can make.

Not Steve's

December 12 2008, 11:50 AM

That wouldn't have been Steve's sale on ebay. He only sells the puppets new and most on ebay are used.

Didn't know that

Thank you Tony Didn't know that but it did specify new so I guessed it came from him

"new" on ebay

December 12 2008, 3:54 PM

New on ebay may mean unused. It may have just been sitting around the house.
I have some nice puppets I'm still waiting to write a show for. The Warthog was a special featured puppet in the Catch the Reading Bug last summer, but that show will no longer be offered. Now I need to put him into a different show.

Any ideas for the warthog who is so ugly he's cute?

A New Member to the Family???

Ok so instead of buying him on e bay I now have to buy him naked and buy his clothes where do i buy them and how much should i expect to pay for the outfits and then I'll need to cut the back oput for the hand. Why doen't Ax Sell with at least one outfit? If I wait to buy some of ax's figures at the convenmtion will they be dressed and wqill i be able to save money? For now the bird (looney tunes Louie) will be fine with my less expensive Jelly Bean Joey....Clue me in Mr. Holmes.

nude figure

December 12 2008, 8:00 PM

Got your attention with the title, eh? Yes, a couple of the figures come without clothing. Willie the Kid is one. It will say on the description of the figure. I have a couple of shirts with holes in them if that helps.

Now, about convention prices. There generally is no discount, other than saving the shipping costs and taxes if you live in California, when you buy an Axtell figure at the convention versus online. Axtell has several retailers for the bird puppets, such as magic stores, but they will cost full price as well. The larger items are sold almost exclusively by Axtell or their rep at conventions.

You can take a chance on a discount at a convention. However, if you're having to wait long you may miss an opportunity to have the puppet more than pay for itself at a few shows. I think of them as tools and decide which tools will help me get more work. If I'm a painter I need a spraygun and a good one will pay for itself overtime. Since I'm a puppeteer I want people to see my website and go "Now that looks great!"

Incidentally, I've seen some hard dummies on websites that just look scary. The owners have had them for 30 years so they don't want to change them. If I were a painter and I'd had a spraygun for thirty years....

warthog ideas

December 12 2008, 9:18 PM

Tie the warthog into the beauty is only skin deep routine or the uly duckling idea.... then have the warthog see his reflection in a mirror and -- thinking it's another warthog -- he'll realize he's actually a beautiful person.

clothes for willie

December 13 2008, 11:22 AM

nj, most of the clothing you need you can get at a thrift store or childrens clothing store. most of the puppets wear 2 or 3 t (toddler) size and can be bought anywhere. and, when you are dressing your figure for a show you can become like all the rest of us, "grown men playing with dolls" (courtesy of dale brown)

Clothes

My Laughing Louie, (Alfie) Is wearing almost exclusively my kids old clothes. The gap demin jacket was worn by both my sons, when they grew out of itit became Alfies!
He also has a Tux that I bought at an Asian childrens clothes store in London. They have some realy fancy clothes for children at realy cheap prices.

Willie's unique size

December 18 2008, 4:58 PM

Ask Steve about Willie's unique size. His long arms are great for covering his eyes, but keep him from a regular size shirt.

Willie size 4

A size 4T usually fits him. You might need to tailor it a little closer in the tummy.
