off the meter

March 26 2009 at 9:45 AM

here is my routine for off the meter...
I use this as a running gag in my magic show

we start by having a competition boys against the girls...always fun
lets see who can shout their name the loudest first the girls then the boys..

then we see how loud we can all clap and cheer

we never get above 6 on the meter

then the magic show starts and after each helper has been up we get a big
clap and a cheer for them....6 again

then the birthday child gets up and helps
this time the meter goes up to 7 or 8

at the end I get all the performers who helped me on stage
and we give them a big clap and cheer stamp your feet etc etc
and finally we get to 10 and bingo they break the meter..

i have used this in this way many time and it works great.
after spending out the money and shipping and tax i wanted to get more out if it than what was suggested in the video..

hope this makes since

Great idea! You've turned it into a thread that ties the show together. Chances are high that if you ask the kids what their favorite part was it will be the applause meter.

re: off the meter

I like to use the off the meter as a "lie detector" for my "tween" audiences, when they are starting to be attracted to the opposite sex but don't want to be. Getting a popular girl or boy up and asking them if they like the boys or girls (as the case may be) can lead to some realy funny interaction ending of course, when they deny being attracted to the opposite sex and break the meter.

Have to be careful using it as a lie detector with younger children because they take it seriously.

Front Label on Meter

We have found a new material for the front label. Instead of a paper sticker, we are printing on Vinyl and it doesn't wrinkle up. So if your front label has developed wrinkles you can ask Robin to ship you a free vinyl label for the front of your meter.

Always improving things...
