first show in the bag!

The first show is in the bag and for all intents and purposes, a success! word got around the school and when i showed up was told i had been moved to the auditorium. (I am glad i decided to bring everything including the curtain and lighting!)I had been moved into the auditorium because it had been decided to bring all the kindergarten classes in. 80 kids!
The teachers brought their classes in and then moved off to the side. The kids were all mine! (gulp) Not to worry, after going through "off the meter" , we all had a great time. My axtell duck , leroy quackington, got things started and even came up with a catch phrase i didn't even know he knew! My little Sunny puppet girl did her best at trying to teach the kids how to memorize their names, etc, but that segment stumbled, more because I have never tried to present this as a stage presentation. "Holly" did her best but the show slowed there. "Fred" the lion came out and the pace picked up again. I even had audience members come up and help with the review of the "3 note method", and when to, and when not to, call 911. After each part, Fred's "cooool!" rang out and the kids picked up on it right away. ( I even heard some mimiking him as they left later, yippeee!)
We finished up with the mdb by telling the kids I was trying to invent a new puppet and wanted their help. they called out the features and I drew them. When the eyes moved, the place exploded! when it spoke, shrieks and yells! (more yippeee!) we finished by having the kids tell me what to erase untill it was all gone. i did run over time (ooh, bad, naughty, naughty!) but I hope that it will be overlooked.
I had asked all the teachers present to fill out an evaluation sheet ( that I found on this site) and have yet to get them back. When I do, I hopefully will have something I will want to share with all of you. This was my first show, so I gave it for free for the practice and the teachers evaluations. there is nothing better than hearing a bunch of kids explode in laughter at somthing you have created and done. It is addicting! I'm hooked!

Addicting

Yes, it is addicting. You made the day for a lot of kids (and teachers). Keep in mind that you may get some great constructive criticism as well. If you disagree, keep it in the back burner until you hear it again from another source. Congratulations! Now you have to consider a sound system!

Congrats

Hey Mark great job but confused as to what your referring to, when you mentioned the '3 note method'... Now that you have a catch phrase for one of your figures be sure to use it all the time. The MDB will get them everytime, its like I Love Lucy it will be funny 100 years from now.

3 note system

March 27 2009, 7:12 AM

n jay,
the 3 note system is something i developed some 25 years ago when i was trying to teach my son his address, name and phone. i used the 1st 3 notes of "3blind mice" and built a song around it. i used it again with my grandkids. it works but i had never adapted it to a stage presentation. I will post the entire thing here over the weekend.
thanks for the encouragement you guys, it is very importatnt to me.
