Latex paint

May 18 2009 at 1:51 AM

Hello all,

I'm a ventriloquist from Holland and new on the list.
I have a Axtell dodobird and a kangaroo.
My kangaroo I have for about 3 years now, and the black paint around the eyes and on the nose are starting to fade.
Does anybody know what paint I can use to touch it up a litte bit?

Best regards,
Walter van der Hoeven

Painting latex

Walter.. thanks for joining us. When you say "fade", it might mean that is chalking over, or sometimes it's called antiquing. You should try to add some protectant to it and brighten it right up. We recommend the new 303 Aerospace now. We sell it herehttp://www.axtell.com/catresor.html You might be able to find it locally also on the web somewhere.

Our latex puppets have a special pigmented latex as paint but they are coated with the protectant. The protectant acts as a barrier and needs to be removed before repainting. We don't recommend you doing it, but here is what we do. We use a solvent to remove the old protectant and the affected paint area down to the latex substrate. Then when dry we repaint it with the pigmented latex paint and replace the protectant. Paint color matching is also important so it does not look like a patch. We recommend that you send the puppet back here for a reasonable cost touch up but understand that the cost of shipping back and forth may be high from Holland. If the area is just black and in a place where the area is solid you can touch up with a black permanent felt marker. Experiment in an unseen area for rub off. Ax

New Protectant 303

What is the difference of this new protectant with Armor All?

Protectant

the 303 Aerospace is uniquely formulated for latex. Armorall is for Synthetic rubbers & Vinyl. Their company used to say it also protected latex but don't any more. This new 303 acts the same but is even better for latex.

When we learned of 303 we tested it here at Axtell Expressions for over 1 year and we found it to be great. It's similar in it's results but because chemically it is made for latex we are switching over. We will do whatever we can to help keep your puppets in their best shape for the longest life.
