I'm one of those, "That should be good enough" kind of guys. It's my contribution to energy conservation. I conserve my own energy as much as possible.
For example, we had a family meeting on where to go for a vacation this year. My son wanted to go to the Grand Canyon, my wife wanted to go to Las Vegas, and my daughter wanted to go to Disneyland. Hmmm. Solution? We drove to an Imax theater that was having a special on the Colorado River. It showed GREAT footage of the Grand Canyon and an aerial passover of Las Vegas, since they use so much of the water. We had to drive on Disney Lane to get there! Good 'nuff!
But I do this in my show as well, which is not good. Oh, no need to hook up that second speaker. One is good 'nuff. No need to put up a backdrop. Those tables and trash cans behind me are good 'nuff. No need to have those spotlights turned on. The flourescents are good 'nuff. No need to pack my Axtell puppets, this other company is good 'nuff.
The problem with good 'nuff is that it loses the "Wow" factor and the "We got more than we paid for" factor. You don't want your customer thinking, "It wasn't great, but it was good 'nuff." I need to work on this!
So what your saying is what you said wasn't good'nuff I can agree with you but would it be good'nuff or just enough? I know that anyone who works for me and says its good'nuff isn't really giving me enough, or am I just letting it slide and there for its good enough. When We bring in a Headliner into our theater, should we over look a lot because they are seniors and they will except good'nuff or will I begin to lose the traffic...So Good'nuff isn't enough at all.
I am a newbie with ventriloquism do I let my lips move give a contrast to my voice and let it be good'nuff, well some of us vents do, yes I agree that a great show is better then still lips but never stop practicing...it isn't good'nuff
