We ask that nobody post comments about individual videos on the forum until the judging has taken place. Don't say things like, "Wow! I really liked the one by ..." Thank you for understanding.
Bribes, however, may be sent to individual judges via paypal.

Steve for contest issues you will need to contact Greg Jackson at gjackson@axtell.com or call 805 650-2133

magic

I believe the magic and puppet videos are going to be lumped into one category and a winner will be chosen. So yes, the magic videos are still going to be judged. I hope everyone is taking the time to watch the videos. There are some great jokes in the vent category.
As you get your results please don't take anything in offense. The majority are better at lip control than I am, even as a judge. If I could control my mouth better I wouldn't be carrying around an extra 40 pounds. We look at several categories. Technique, appeal, video and audio quality, creativity, etc.
In case of a tie the winners will each receive a piece of the robot toucan.

Just kidding
November 18 2010, 6:20 PM
Hmm. I could be vicious and say "One will get the bill while the other is given the bird." But that would be inappropriate! I'm just kidding about splitting the prize. I really don't even know what the prizes are. All I know is that Axtell said they wouldn't put certain photos of me online if I judged the contest.

Thank you for your patience. I'm just one of several judges and I just now finished sending in my scores. (Technical difficulties with my default email for one.) I ended up watching each video about 3 times. I encourage people to check them out. They lose some quality when blown up so you may enjoy them most at the size shown or just above the size shown.
There are a lot of creative ventriloquists out there! One of them even looks like Terry Fator.

Things you will see
November 19 2010, 3:55 PM
Here are some positive things you will see on the vent videos.
Japanese movie routine where the voices are off synch to the lips.
Lifelike puppet movement.
Yodeling
Singing
Two puppets at once
Various portable backdrops
Lots of jokes
Drawing Board ideas
One handed magic with a puppet
More jokes
Distinct voices

Okay folks sorry for the delay we had some technical issues to resolve.... here are the WINNERS!
Congrats to the winners and everyone who entered! The judges were off the scale awesome! Like the supreme court judges of the Ax world or something. Where did that come from??? LOL! Thanks to Steve and folks involved in getting things online and for the time of each judge to be a part of this event. Have a great Thanksgiving week everyone! D

contestants were wonderful
November 22 2010, 7:44 PM
Hello, many good videos and congrats to all winners and contestants! I was not a contestant as Im just an admirer of Vent! I had to mention this though, what a coincidence... has anyone checked out the 2008 2nd and 3rd place Adult Axtell winners? Click on Axtells 2008 video challenge winners link! 2 of the winners from 2008 are the exact same contestants that won again this year with this exception... the 2nd place winner in 2008 won 3rd place this year and the 3rd place winner in 2008 won 2nd place this year! Wow! How'd that happen! Shawn Patrello and Yoly Pacheco way to go! 2 times winning each!
See Past 2008 VENT & PUPPETRY Winners
Did they win in 2009 also? I dont see a link for 2009...just kidding guys great work though but what a coincidence!

Contest
November 24 2010, 9:54 AM
This was a very difficult year for the contest. I was reminded why we didn't do one in 2009. The management challenges in doing something like this are staggering and even with 3 staff members dedicated to it, and over 10 judges there were still a few dropped balls and technical mistakes on our part.
We have meetings to discuss the value of the contest and our major purpose for it, is to showcase excellent performers and promote the Axtell products in the videos. I have nothing to do with the judges selection and the judges all vote independently without ever seeing each others scores so it is a VERY FAIR scoring process. Absolutely no favoritism at all. At least half the judges we new this year as well, so lots of fresh eyes on the videos.
My biggest regret is that we didn't have a semi-final stage where a bigger group of great videos were given more notoriety. Then the winners chosen from that Semi-final group.

Magic Category
November 24 2010, 9:55 AM
Brent... We didn't have enough "Magic" entries to have a category, so that's why we had to combine it with Puppet videos. Hopefully in future years we will have enough contestants!
Way to go, Austin! Great job! Enjoy your new puppet!

Thanks to Steve, the judges and the entire Axtell team for putting this contest on. Austin and I are truly thankful for the opportunity to use of the best puppets and props available.
