Ax, Thanks for the additional help in posting it.

I am really proud of Cricket and I wanted to show my friends here at the forum what she looks like.
This was my first time handling her, so I was still getting adjusted to her.
I am anxious to put her to work.
Two thumbs up to you and your crew for a beautiful bouncing baby girl.
My friends and family that have seen her think she is so....cute!

Scott, It is cool. I knew you were playing with her name. Cricket Batt.
I just ran with it to show you I knew...Cricket is a sport...she might take a fence...as in "fencing" with swords.
Bring it on. Don't shut up cause of me. I love the name plays. {:->

Scott, By the Way. Thanks for calling Cricket a very lovely girl.
I think she is lovely too. Ax and the crew did a wonderful job with her. I am really proud of her. I think I said that already. {:->
I didn't expect to be using her very soon. But I was shot an email last night asking me to do a skit Sunday afternoon. Extremely short notice. But I am going to try and come up with something simple for her to do for the skit. I believe I can pull a short story out of my stack that will suit her fine. I love the contact with you guys on the Forum threads. It really has helped me grow. So two thumbs up to my Forum friends.

How's it going?

June 2 2012, 12:18 PM

HI Suzie,

Can Cricket have a older nerdy cousin in CA name Leonard? He should be on the Axtell production line as we speak. I'm looking forward to his arrival.

It is going fine. }:->

I would think it as an honor to have a cousin out yonder, by the name of Leonard. {:->

I was wonderin' ifin' you'd heard how he was comin' along. That is awesome.

tv show

June 3 2012, 6:27 AM

Make a list of Cricket's favorites.
Her favorite television character could be the little boy on Kung Fu. You know, the one the man called "Little Grasshopper".
Her favorite movie character, Jiminy Cricket.
Her favorite sport. Most kids don't know it. It's a lot like baseball...
Her favorite music. The sounds she hears on a summer's evening. Crickets chirping!
Her favorite food. Pizza. Did you think she'd say crickets? Eww!

Story of how she got her name. Her parents are farmers and they were worried about losing the farm. It was a cold, wet spring and they had not been able to plant the seeds in the ground yet! Every day there would be a little more rain! The tractor would get stuck if they even tried. Plus, her mom was pregnant and it was too hard to plant all those seeds by hand. Then one night, just before she was born, the crickets started making their music. Momma knew that it was going to be all right! There would be no rain today, and the sun did come out! So did the baby. So they named her Cricket!

Tony,
How cute.
I got goose-ez (goosebumps) when I read your little story.
May use at a later date. Great ideas and cute.

This afternoon I am going with some true stories for her to share.
(1) The Bridge and the Bear...(2) Clinging for life on a cliff lion cub.
Both with fantastic happy endings.
I think the residents will enjoy the stories.
Plus I will add a couple of little kid songs for Cricket to Chrip (sing).

Tony,
Have I told you before....??? Bet I have. You guys on the Forum are fantastic!

She's really cute. I'm planning on ordering the boy version, may I ask what colour skin you chose for Cricket?

I wanted brown so she looked like she played outside.
She is brown.
And thanks.

Your lip control is excellent

I liked my little girl looking like she played outdoors and active. Plus as far as I can remember when I was younger, trolls were always brown toned. I have one sitting on my computer desk from way back. I kind of went by it on what I was looking for. Only thing this one has light purple hair. Haahahaha. It was the last trinket I got my Mom before she passed. Brings back great memories. It made her smile.
Lip control. Man, do I wish I would improve better on that. This was a short trickle. So, it wasn't too bad.
When I get up front with a room of people it is harder. Too much to do at once. Being a beginner I am not at the brain learn stage yet of the performance. Learning new skits and talking in front of a group is tough.
I naturally want to talk louder, so that makes my lips move more without a thought. Trying to stay on the skit in hand and remember not to move my lips in the process is a very hard task for this old brain. {:->
I know I will get better in time.
For some reason I have notice in front of kids I do a little better than with adults. Older adults blow me out of the water. Even with a PA I naturally want to talk up so that they hear good and clear. {:->
Kids make me work harder, because they know the puppet is alive. {:->
Plus with older adults (Nursing Home). I find myself repeating alot of what my Puppet says. There always seems to be one or two that can't understand what I am saying, so I again naturally repeat myself. I don't know why I bother, cause the ones that I hear saying they can't understand or can't hear usually wouldn't hear or understand even if I was standing on top of them. But I want them to enjoy the skit, so I find myself trying to help them hear and understand. {:-> I worked for years and years around Nursing Facilities as a Respiratory Tech, old habits are hard to break.
This little video of Cricket was off the top of my hat. That makes a difference. Didn't have to think. Just went with it. {:->

repetition

For older adults I recommend songs. They know so many songs already (and may sing along) so you won't have to repeat yourself. Let me say that again...

Tony, I agree with you. Songs are great. I think I just need to get out of the habit of repeating around older people. I worked for a good 30 years around older men and women. It is just a habit I picked up while working around them for so many years. Plus, it is a hard habit to break when you like listening to yourself speak. Haahahahaha
I just wonder how many other bad habits I share during a show? {:->

Well I think you're doing very well with your lip control.

You've convinced me to buy one myself, the only issue now is colouring lol. I totally relate to your troll story I loved those too and how one or two about the place. I think that's the appeal of this little figure for me as well.
