Any Ideas? (Adult Clean Material)

I am finding myself doing adult programs a bit more than I originally thought I'd be doing.
My Puppet Ministry and Storytelling has a primary base for children, cause that is where I started my Ministry, and I am still doing Childern Moments and programs.
I am being invited more and more to come to Nursing Home Facilities and put on shows. I have been using a lot of my Children Skits only adjusting them slightly. But, I can only adjust them so much.
I have two skits at the moment that are adult format that have worked well. Kids would not understand the stories, they would only understand the puppet is talking. When I say adult, my material is still clean stuff. {:->
But, if you all got any stories or ideas that you think the older adults would enjoy I would be greatful for your help.
I write and rewrite material all the time that I stumble into it for kids, but when it comes to adults, I am fuzzy. {:->
Maybe, I am actually on the right track and just do not have a clue.
If this information will help you out. I do not do magic at my shows. I work the puppets through skits and stories. I also tell short stories to the viewers without the puppets. Some of the stories are acted out, some are just told.

Sing-a-longs

You might want to consider having your puppet leading everyone into singing a couple of popular songs the old timers like.
You can get karaoke music for songs online.
I'd recommend songs like; "Singing in the rain," "Catch a falling Star."
I'd keep my dialog kind of simple.

secular or Christian?

For a Christian skit check out my youtube video of the Lord's Prayer. It goes over well with adults.

I would work on a Christmas show for now. It's good for mid-Nov. thru December and repeatable each year. Check out the search on this forum for Christmas skit or for "the night before Christmas".

Piggy Backing Tony's Idea

June 28 2012, 11:42 AM

Tony's right, his "trying" to teach Gladly, The Cross Eyed Bear the Lord's Prayer is really funny. I'll add something to his idea:

When my niece was 2 years old, someone taught her The Pledge of Allegiance, I--the coolest, greatest Uncle Roger EVER--would reinforce this lesson by mis-quoting it. This would make her laugh, and "correct" me.

Tony does something very similar with his bear puppet and The Lord's Prayer. Point being, if you're entertaining a secular audience, you could probably take almost anything and teach it to your puppet, and the comedy comes from the misunderstanding.

For example, my version of The Pledge went something like this:

I pledge all sneezes to the flag,
Of the onion states of a miracle
And to the Republicans, who understand
We're one nation under God
Invisible, with just ice and liver for y'all. [I'm a Southern boy by the way]

Take almost anything your audience may know well and use it.

Thanks
Rog

I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made. I know that fully well.
