because the people who are dumping these dogs got them from somewhere that wouldnt take them back.
Im sorry, but I still think that people are dumping dogs (and lets not forget that rescue was not empty before the mortgage crisis) because of regular dog things like house-soiling, lack of training, purchasing without thinking, etc. I think that people are not looking hard for places to rent that allow for dogs because there are WAY more people now trying to rent out houses that cant sell. I think when the going gets tough, people are just dumping the dogs. If you decide that you have to skip on a dental this year or switch from proplan to purina one, so be it, but you make it work. Trust me, we got royally screwed by the housing crisis, so I understand that. We managed to sell our house at a huge loss, but we're renting now not owning. We didnt even consider looking at rentals that couldnt have dogs.
My point is lets not blame this all on "the bad economy." Some of this is just people being irresponsible.
