Mine dont even care about my christmas tree! They haven't even gone up and sniffed it and it's live!
If the people coming to the house to visit are dog friendly and not afraid then it should be fine.
I would be concerned about the pit bull though. Take up all bones and toys when they are together. I would keep both dogs on a leash for the initial meeting. Maybe take them both out for a walk together side by side but with a little distance between them. Don't leave any food around in bowls including any cat food food if you have a cat.
Stress and two dominant dog breeds not a real good combo.
