I started at a training center with Juno in puppy class. It was a 10 week intensive class that concentrated on balanced training techniques. The instructor there is a state evaluator for dogs and a doberman breeder, so she was experienced with "tougher" breeds. I kept training there through most of Juno's training. I learned basic dog behavior stuff and how to teach skills.
I then did some competition training with another trainer.
Now I am starting with Aero in the Champaign/Urbana area with a behaviorist who is a big akita rescue person. We've been at it less than a week now, but so far so good.
We never stop learning!
