Response to "He's not a good representative of the breed" (venting, kinda long)

Hi Sarah, I completely understand your venting! I am beyond protective when it comes to Magnum and not because of him, but because of other people. I had a friend come over a few weeks ago who Magnum has not seen in 6 months. I always babygate him in the kitchen when people are coming over so he can get use to them before letting him out with them. She saw him from the foyer and went running across the living room at him. His hackles went up and he stepped away from the gate. I immediately went over to tell him it was okay and to tell her to back off and pull her hands back. She's an animal person...has cats, bird, and a dog!!!! Yet she didn't read his body language!!!!

I can't tell you the amount of people who would walk right up to Magnum with their dog while on walks. I had to lecture every single one of them, especially when they'd say their dog was friendly. I've lectured more kids on putting their hands out so the dog can smell them, approaching from the head, and NO screaming. And don't even get me started on people who have their dogs off lead....we all know what happened with a Rottie and Magnum. Ugg!

What cracks me up is that people are more afraid of Marquee then they are Magnum!!!! They always tell me the wolf coloring has them more concerned. Huh????
