You can't see facial expressions, or hear the tone of voices.
Not that anyone is asking my two cents, but Erika was just venting, and knows what to say to her friend, she knows her friend was being..."silly". With your reply, it seemed like you were telling her what she needed to tell her friend. It really did. Erika didn't ask "what should I do?", ya know?
