I grew up spending the summers in Longview, Texas -- My grandmother's house had a HUGE pecan tree in the backyard that was already MATURE when my mom was a little girl in the 1920's ... I used to climb it, just like my mom had done as a kid, and boy do I remember my granmother's home-made pecan pies (and PRALINES too!) from that tree's harvest every year
