I swear, people never cease to amaze me! I told a woman at work that I was going to neuter my male. She asked me what breed he was and then asked if I would be willing to wait to neuter him. Not knowing where this was going, I asked her why. She said she had a 9 year old Rottie/Shepherd mix that she wanted one more litter out of before it was too late.

I think my jaw hit the floor. In my shocked silence, she took the opportunity to ask me why I was neutering him so young. Having recovered by now, I answered that although he's a great dog, he's not a specimen of the breed that would help with the betterment of the Akita. She just looked at me. Not being able to contain myself .... I told her that I do not agree with people just having puppies without the sole reason to make a breed better. And further, I will not support anyone who is breeding as a backyard breeder who obviously has not understanding of being responsible.

Before I got myself in trouble at work, I walked away. I heard someone whisper....I think we found her passionate topic. Oops!

Funny you bring that up...just today, at work, a girl brought in a couple of Pug puppies. Not as bad as your lady, but still makes me want to slam my head against my desk...

"Is she a breeder?"
"No, she's not a breeder, she has a boy and a girl, and they have puppies sometimes."
