So this weekend my hub packed cora up and took her to the park. The same park she has been going to since a pup. We have never had any problems there she loves the people and the ducks and everyone with dogs are usually very well behaved as they will either stay clear or the dogs will do the usual ritual, touch noses sniff body then butts and go about their ways. At one part of the nice trail there is a little creek that flows by and Cora loves to get her feet wet so hub had her by the creek away from the trail. At that point two women not together come around on the trail with their wild pups. One was a male lab mix still a puppy and the other lady had a boxer also male.. Before my hub could react the ladies start screaming because they couldn't control their dogs and they had them on those zip type leashes where the dog can go out like 10 ft or whatever so the lab comes running full speed to cora and attempts to jump on her but right before he got there she puffed up like our akitas love to do and took her left paw and socked him across the face and he tumbled away. At that point hub got in between and yelled for the women to get control of their dogs. now the boxer was trying to hump her and she was not liking that. no growling or teeth but just moving away. my hub had to grab each dog and push it away as the women could not get control at all. screaming and yelling for their dogs. finally hub scooped cora up in his arms packed her up the hill away and sat her down gave her a good girl and continued on their walk as the women were still trying to untangle their dogs as they started fighting with each other at that point. what a day!!
she's a boxer and my hub and her play box a lot she loves to wallop him with her big paws. maybe its the spring season for dogs to hump! i think thats why they ran to her so crazy. thank god she's fixed
If either of those STUPID WOMENS' dogs had gotten even so much as one little scratch on them from Cora's claws, I'll bet you any amount of money they would have blamed The Akita !!! It cost me $850 at the Emergency Vet last week to prove that Shaka did NOT bite some little "Shit-Poo" who attacked her while she was heeling on a short lead & he launched on a 20-foot Flexi >=(
There was another lady sitting with her kid watching the whole thing and after hub got cora to the trail she looked at him and laughed shaking her head as the other two women fought to get the dogs under control. So maybe we would of had a witness either way the akita is considered a dangerous dog to most so yea we got lucky!
