Hi,
I'm a bit confused as to the right engine choice for a P-38J, in particular in terms of 1:48 resin engines. As far as I'm aware, the P-38J had a pair of Allison V 1710 89/91 engines. Now Aires has two Allison V 1710 in 1:48, one is a -85 and one is a -89. You'd think that the -89 was the obvious choice, but I'm not so sure. The -85 engine is upright (as in the P-38) but the -89 engine is inverted, cams at the bottom. Have a look here:
The -85 engine:

And the -89 engine:

I wanted to buy the -89 engine but the inverted engine tricked me and I bought the -85 engine by mistake. I went ahead and bough the -89 engine later as well, now I need to decide which one to use and which one to pass on. I'm thinking about a diorama with the replacement engine in a crate and the P-38 just being opened up (so I don't need to hack up the whole nacelle to put the resin engine inside)....
Thanks a lot
Jeffrey
