Response to I don't know about the Warhammer crowd...

Keep in mind that Citadel paints are aimed at gamers - and in particular, gamers who use Games Workshop products - rather than modellers, though I agree that they are great for painting details. At least, the less, um, colourful colours are!

The paints are, according to their website, intended to provide a range of colours in different consistencies (including a new range intended for drybrushing!) and colours matched for shading, base colours and highlights. A good thing for painting large numbers of figures without having to mix up bespoke highlight colours, for example.

Games Workshop present a strange dichotomy. The figures and products such as paints, brushes, etc, are first class and constantly improving. But from the business perspective ... it is all ridiculously expensive and markets are carefully segmented. For a while GW products could be bought retail and shipped to Australia cheaper than Australian retailers could get product wholesale. Until GW refused to supply UK and EU retailers unless they only sold into the EU (a similar thing was done for the US). The rules are written to sell product, not produce good games, and most of the games designers who cared about games have left the company. My GW stuff is mostly sitting in the cupboard at the moment.
