Response to Ordered 1/32 Tamiya A6M5 Kit - What else do I need?

... that kit is still today probably the finest plastic airplane ever made! (yep, even after the release of the Spitfire and the Mustang!)

You see Joe, the only advise I can give you is to grab a copy of the Tamiya model magazine issue where the kit was built by Marcus Nicholls and use it as a guide: That will be your best investment!

Regarding after market: Clearly save your money! See the kit first, sub assemble it a bit and realize that apart from some plumbing around the engine and in the bottom floor, everything else you have on the market will not add detail that is not already in the kit! And don't replace 3d parts in the cockpit from 2d details: Sometimes people want to improve and the result is exactly the opposite! Specially in this kit!

Tamiya made an incredible work in this aircraft! You are not going to believe how exquisite every part is and at certain moments you really feel you are building the real aircraft: So spectacular is the offered detail and the way the parts are putted together!

Happy building!
