Response to Why Airfix you guys??

Airfix manufactures a lot of stuff to a price point that many find attractive. Lots of people just like the challenge of enhancing a basic kit rather than pay the extra for the "superior" kit. There is the iconic nature and UK-centric pride associated with the label (like Matchbox). Some people are just fine with slapping together cheap kits and moving on to the next one.

As stated, Airfix's recent offerings offer very good value for the money and hit a fiscal sweet spot for a lot of people. And some of their recent stuff is just darn good by any standard, the only consistent complaint being the overdone panel lines.

I think Airfix and Revell are both targeting a part of the market that's okay with a little bit less in the box for a lower price, but still with good basic shape, fit and decals.

Granted, there are still some dogs in the Airfix livery that are way past their time and should be deleted. The beauty is that Airfix is actually replacing some of their standards with new-tool kits, and the Airfix faithful are responding by buying them by the bushel.

And there's the variety: Their range of current kits and those out of production but still available is vast and covers so many areas of interest.
