Response to Tamiya 1:48 figures question as to true scale

...but come out close to average height if you actually measure them*. I feel, and I have plenty of award-winning and highly regarded figure sculptors and modelers that will back me up on this, that slightly oversize figures look better and more realistic to the eye. I think that ICM's 1/48 figures are the best by far in plastic (and they have been included in some Tamiya kits, plus the pilots in Tamiya's recent US Navy set were tooled by ICM but never sold under their label. Their RAF figures are currently sold by Revell Germany). Mike Good probably does the best resin 1/48 figures they've sold by several companies, mainly Ultracast, but I think Kirin or Jaguar may have done some of his sculpts in the past as well.

*Applies more to Tamiya's 1/48 armor figures, which, IMO, are poor. Tamiya's accessory aircraft figures tend to be pretty good.
