Response to F-84F in 1/72 question: Can I use F-84G resin bits?

If you look at the landing gear on Republic Aircraft, they have/had two basic designs. The P-35 and A-10 have gear that retracts parallel with the fuselage. The P-43, P-47. straight and swept wing F-84s. and F-105 had the same basic design. Not exactly the same, the 105 gear was MUCH longer than the P-43, but the shape of the doors didn't change much.

And looking at some detail photos, the interior of the wings of the straight- and swept-wing F-84s are pretty much the same.

The idea is that when you get a design that works, why change it more than you need to?

So if you are willing to try it, you may be rewarded.

OTOH, the PJ Productions resin F-84F has marvelous gear interiors. But it's 41.50 Euros, about $52 US.

Your idea would save money and give you a real sense of accomplishment.
