Response to Hi Marcus.

...the desperate need for a 1:48 P-38 Lightning from Tamiya - I found the Hasegawa kit's tail-booms a fiddle to build, but maybe that was just me. A 1:48 Spitfire Mk.IX from Tamiya would sell extremely well too, I think. I know there's been some differing opinion about the IL-2 Sturmovik but it is an incredibly significant subject - perhaps not the prettiest aircraft ever - but arguably the most important aircraft of WW2 (MN places tin helmet on head, waits for flak..) The kit is superb too, I have to say.
I have almost no influence over the decisions made at Tamiya although each year at the Nuremberg Toy Fair I have a sit-down over coffee with my friends at the company and show them my list of things I would like to see (this includes military and automotive subjects too). So far, the Me262 is the only one that was released; there's lots on the list...
I totally understand your need to save money and in fact one of the reasons we launched Model Airplane International (and later, Model Military International) was for readers to save their hobby cash - they can get their favourite subject in one magazine without having to buy several, or put up with a publication that contains stuff they are not so interested in. Magazines evolve and as our authors have come and gone, TMMI has changed quite a lot over the years. When I put together Issue 200 I looked back at TMMI from the last twenty years (wow, I've been working on the mag since 1991 - you get less for murder..), and I think we had some good stuff in it, but some less good stuff too. Our articles are now longer, that's for sure - so when a significant new model is released, we give it a lot more page-space.
Thanks for showing your support and buying Issue 200 anyway! I hope the IL-2 isn't too dull, at least you'll be entertained by my witty banter and the endearing, ever-present typos.. wink.gif
