Response to 1/48 Tigercat AMT Ertl vs Italeri release

Buy the AMT Tigercat on Plane Trading at a substantial savings or if need be, shop for one on evilbay. I picked one up a couple months ago for $15 I think it was from ebay on a "Buy It Now". Take the savings over the Italeri kit and buy a set of True Detail or other resin wheels. You might also want to invest in the Scale Aircraft Conversions white metal landing gear set as the plastic in the AMT kit is rather soft and the stock gear tends to bow or break from the weight of the kit combined with the weight that needs to be added to the kit to keep it from being a tail dragger. The stock gear could be rebuilt or reinforced, but the SAC metal gear sometimes can be found cheap at some on-line hobby retailers. I don't know about Italeri's plastic used for their pressing of the Tigercat, but typically their plastic is very soft too.
