Having spent some 4500 hours behind the wheel of C-130 E's and H's, and with the added impetus of a set of Attack Squadron engine nacelles provided by a friend, I decided it was time to build my 1/48 Italeri C-130E/H kit. I know - really BIG. Anyway, I recently got to the stage of dry mounting the wings on the fuselage and the Attack Squadron nacelles onto the wings and something struck me as odd. It just didn't look right. A quick check against 1/72 scale drawings enlarged to 1/48 scale and photos that clearly show the prop warning stripe on the fuselage and it would appear that the Attack squadron engines are too long and those provided in the kit are indeed correct. Has anyone else come to this conclusion? As an aside, Italeri did get the location of the external tanks wrong. They should be 9 mm outboard of the provided locating holes. In other words half way between the engines. They also forgot the landing and taxi lights and the interior is lacking detail which makes this BIG kit a BIG project.
