Got to spend Fathers Day at Paine Field and watch the FHCAM unveil its new de Havilland Mosquito. Unfortunately the clouds kept the plane on the ground, but famed pilot Steve Hinton fired up the Merlins and taxied a bit for the crowd. Very cool.

Here are some pics from inside and outside (the building) that I hope will help as inspiration for some hyperscaler's Mosquito build.

Note the vapor trails peeling off the props during the engine run-up

The exhaust has hardly had time to start discoloring

and afterward... note the addition of a clear plastic cup placed between the struts to catch the oil.

Some cool things to note: Steve Hinton cuts the magnetos to the Merlins at about 2:28 (scared us a bit) and watch the water vapor pour off the prop tips at 4:25. Hope you enjoy this half as much as I enjoyed being at Paine Field today!

including another Mosquito I photographed at the RAF Museum in London during a visit to England in 2008.
