Response to I the spirit of Serge's post below...WHO has inspired you in your model building?

For those too young to remember them, Alan Hall was editor of the old Airfix Magazine, and his many articles in that publication were some of the first to explain how plastic kits could be modified and converted.

W. R. (Bill) Matthews was the long-time Model Talk columnist for Flying Review International. Bill is still building (at age 90) and contributes to several Yahoo groups, although he has lately been diagnosed with Alzheimer's.

The Late Harry Woodman was the first to introduce the use of photo-etched parts, and his articles in the old Scale Models magazine and his book, "Scale Model Aircraft in Plastic Card," are still go-to references.

Bob Kaye was the founder of HisAirDec, one of the first (if not THE first in the US) makers of aftermarket decals, including national insignia and code letters in accurate shapes and colors, as well as the publisher of HisAirDec News, a bi-monthly magazine which included a decal with each issue.

Finally, modelers John Alcorn, George Lee, and Peter Cooke, whose scratchbuilt models have been national award winners. The IPMS-USA best-of-show/grand award is named for George, and the works of all three have been featured in at least two books.
