Response to There were a bunch of those pea-green Phantoms....

In the sixties, on early F-4D, we had a "bad batch of paint", that faded from 30219
to 34201 (a color in the original FS 595A, and in the USAF TO)

Then, about 8 years later, in the UK,,,we had a "bad batch of paint" again?

I have a cool color photo of a Phantom in Vietnam with a Gray replacing the Tan,,,with
a patch of another Gray painted on just like that Tan in your two photos.

There is no trace of the Tan in the "faded to Gray" areas, and why wouldn't the
"code change repainted" area have been in the Tan instead of another Gray?

This has always struck me as the same deal as the "WW II bombs" thing that pops up now and
then, even though the bombs had suffixes (and fin assemblies) that says that they were manufactured in the late
fifties.

I'd sure be interested in some sort of "Paint Insufficiency Report", similar to the Change
Notice that switched some of the FS 595(0) colors to ANA replacements, and then later back to
FS 595(0), years before FS 595A came out.
