first date: 23 June 1942 - Taken on strength

Noted on 8 June 1942 as "has to be modified before being placed in service". Delivered to stored reserve with No. 4 Training Command. Issued to No. 133 (F) Squadron at Lethbridge, Alberta on 3 July 1942. Still with this unit when it transferred to Western Air Command and moved to RCAF Station Boundary Bay, BC on 26 October 1942.

133 Sq.
Formed at Lethbridge, Alberta, on 3 June 1942, with Hurricanes and Harvards, by the end of the month, No.133 had 24 Hurricanes on strength. It moved to Boundary Bay, B.C. on 5 October 1942, to Tofino on Vancouver Island on 1 July 1943 and then to Sea Island on 10 March 1944.

Another reference indicates that 133 Sq was disbanded at Patricia Bay in 1945.

Between early 1942 and April 1944 there were three operational fighter squadrons rotated through Boundary. No. 133 Squadron, equipped with Hawker Hurricanes was the first, while No. 14 and No. 132, both of which flew Curtiss Kittyhawks, were assigned later.

On the fourth of February 1943, Pilot Officer, Grover Stewart Sargent from No. 133 Fighter Squadron took off from the Boundary Bay aerodrome in Hurricane #5398. P/O Sargent was on a 'Night Flying Test' of his Canadian built Hurricane that night when he ran into trouble and crashed near Pender Island. Hurricane 5398 had been delivered to 133 Fighter Squadron while the Unit was still at Lethbridge Alberta on July 16th 1942. The a/c nose on either side had the Inscription, “March Of Dimes,” apparently a gift of the foundation for the war effort. Sargent had also joined 133 (f) Squadron a month earlier and both Sargent and this aircraft made the trip to Boundary Bay when the Squadron was transferred to the West Coast. P/O Sargent was highly thought of within the Squadron - so much so that he was given a posthumous promotion to Flying Officer. Flying Officer Sargent's body was returned to his home town where he lies at the Lake View Memorial Gardens Cemetery, in Point Claire, Quebec. He was 21. Lest We Forget

From the Unit Diary of No. 133 Fighter Squadron, Boundary Bay, 15th April 1943:
“R137479 Sergeant Pilot E. E. Grissom in Hurricane A/C No. 5387 at 11:55 hours broke away from formation leader at about five thousand feet without warning and dove into ground half a mile East of station buildings instantly killing pilot and totally destroying aircraft. Cause of accident unknown.”
