Response to So how bad is the Matchbox 1/32 Spitfire Mk 22/24?

It's not an awful model but it is certainly 1) typical Matchbox 2) a product of it's time.

The outline is reasonably good, and, for better or worse, the kit is pretty clean as Matchbox has minimal surface detail (aside from their usual fine raised lines and heavy engraved lines. The parts breakdown is a bit odd here and there. I found the seperate wing fillets to be very ill fitting. There are no really small or fine parts and everything, overall, is pretty thick. The canopy is thick but clear. The cockpit detail is mostly just shapes - a floor, bulkhead, seat, etc. but not much detail detail. As I recall the pilot figure was pretty nice.

Revell has reissued the kit and that would be the way to go because you get a normal plastic color and better decals.

The Bf. 109 is really not bad either. Again, it's pretty sparse but not a horrible kit.
