Good morning chaps.

Nice to see you all. If there's a bit of an echo in here, it's because the original posting was lost in the switch to this, hopefully, more kinder forum.

Anyway, to try and remember as much of the original as I can on this bitterly cold morning in Blighty, and through my somewhat intoxicated state - though we wont go into that.

CMR's Martin JRM-3 Mars Flying Tanker was announced by Modell-Fan magazine as "best Model of 2004" in category "Aircraft models produced in small series", and awarded their gold medal at this year's Nurenberg Toy Fair.

I am particularly please for the guys at CMR, partly as I was privileged to build their Martin Mars, and partly as I have an inkling of how much effort they put into the engineering of this kit and the woes they had in casting during the record heat of summer 2004. They are continually after high qualitly reference materials, and always trying to improve their techniques and models.

I think we often forget that companies like CMR operate on a shoestring, with fairly limited technology, and produce these kits in their spare time as often they have 'proper' jobs which brings in the money. They deserve a huge debt of gratitude for bringing us subjects most major manufacturers wouldn't touch. It's great to see such recognition afforded to these small companies.

Angus
