SCR 720 Radar Question

The P61 Black Widow and the Mk XIII/XVII Mosquito use the SCR 720 Radar, however the Mosquito has radar reciever aerials on the wing, but the P61 does not. Why is this?, are the aerials on the side of the P61 crew nacelle performing the same function? Thanks in advance for any and all help, Joel.

The P-61 had similar type mounted under the cockpit

The P-61 system used a dish antenna...........The pictures post the other day of the P-61 being restored showed an excellent pic of the front without the cover........can't tell if the "feed horn" was the "spin-lens" type or stationary.............but it sends and receives(has a listening phase) through the same feed horn...............Using google the only reference states that the P-61 used the SCR-720 (but the British called the same unit the MK VIII & X).........

Not sure why such wire or pole type antenna were needed............Determine azimuth positioning????

OK apparantly it was part on the antenna array for SCR-729

Navigational radar and the antenna on the wings are recieving antennas.

But the radar was a lot more than those two components. And there wasn't only the AI Mk X to be installed in the NF-30: a secondary radar, used for navigation, was installed in the NF-30, the SCR 729. It was composed of an emitter-receiver, an antenna for the transmission under the fuselage and two antenna for the reception at the wing tips.
