What models of this plane are available?

July 3 2009, 3:51 PM

Hi group
This is a plane that I really like but I cannot remember ever seeing it modeled. Are there any models available?

Donnie

I believe Welsh Models, and Anigrand in 1/144

Welsh is a vac, Anigrand is resin. Years ago, Leoman also made one in resin. Transports aren't a real popular subject. I was surprised when Revell did the C-17.

Anigrand's looked a little odd to me. Welsh's looks pretty good.

Gene Hooker did it in 1/72 vac circa 1987......

Extremely complete instruction book and detail/historical info. An outstanding "garage" effort!

Sorry for the goof on "Cooper" vice "Hooker"; I was thinking of my old MAC C-133A squadron mate, Monte Cooper! happy.gif

Gene Hooker

I think it was Gene Hooker. He did another production run a couple of years ago - I have one from that run and like Phil says the instructions/info included are really nice.

Combat Models also currently produces a very basic vac kit in 1/72. Jerry Rutman used to produce a detail set for it as well, but it doesn't look like it's in his current catalog.

Used to have one. But since their move to Ashland it is MIA. I wonder if it was scrapped.

I am glad it didn't end up as a soda can. Did the C-124 from the SAC museum also end up there?

Indeed, the Shakey found a good home there too.

The Dover web page has some shots of the interior restoration.
