Regarding Eduard etch sets, as a general rule , should one bend a part inwards or outwards along the etch bend line?

The proper bend direction...

is usually clear from the orientation of the part, and it's other detail. But in the lack of any clear information, I usually bend the part so that the bend line will be inside the assembly, and therefore less visible on the completed assembly.

The instructions will generally show which way the part...

...is to be bent. Remember, there is also a "top" and a "bottom" to each part, and by following the instruction sheet, it will usually be quite clear which way the bend is to be made. Normally the bend indicator line is on the inside of the bend, but there ARE exceptions.
