Got the basswood buck carved for a canopy that will be vac'd. What's the best way to seal it to make an RTV mold for a resin cast buck? Thin CA to penetrate the wood? A thin coat of epoxy? Somethin' else?

If you plan to make an RTV mold, You can seal it with

Superglue- works good but the PH of the wood makes it go off faster, so hard to spread a thin coat and hard to sand to a good finish. But if you do it will be rock hard and make a good finished part.

Sanding sealer- works great easy to get a good smooth finish with some 0000 steal wool

Primer like Floquil or an Automotive sandable primer-
Let it cure well and finish with 0000 steal wool

and floor wax

after you use the sanding sealer, try commercial floor wax, I bought a gallon for my salon two years ago, I used a little of it once when I ran out of Future.
Now I use it all the time. If you let it set a for a bit to become thicker, dip a finger or a Q-tip and rub it on. Do several coats. Let it harden, you can rub it out and even sand it as well.
