Need some suggestions on a close out-of-bottle match for RAAF Foliage Green as used on the overall green CAC Boomerangs in 44-45, in acrylics. My LHS's carry MM Acryl; Tamiya; Humbrol acrylics; and Vallejo.

I realize that this shade is a tough nut to crack as for what it really looks like....

Quick and dirty...

I recall reading that RAAF Foliage Green is a (Ballpark) match for US 34092, the comment added being to darken it about 5% from stock.

If thats true or not, I can't say, but I did make an F15 in the greens , and 34092 sure looks the right ballpark. (compared to a colour shot of a RAAF Beaufighter in Green.

Thanks Brett

That'll do nicely, just picked up a bottle of 'Euro I Dark Green' MM Acryl after testing it next to my other choices.

Oddly enough, it's pretty darn close to Tamiya XF-26, but the Tamiya color is a touch too bright it seems. No other way to describe it; they're pretty much the same color only the one is just more vibrant than the other.

MM 1764 Enamel

This is a very close equivalent and likely as close as anything you will find. I don't have the acryl numbers for MM but if you check I am sure you can find the equivalent. The FS# is 4092 and most lines seem to have some equivalent to it. That is also medium green(US), VM2 green(Italian) and lord only knows what else in other countries. Apparently, trees are the same green the world over!

See the article on foliage green and boomerang colours in the reference section.

No specific colour is needed

I use the Humbrol Enamels for all of my foilage green acft and use Hu149 as a starting point. Due to weathering and all those other factors involved you can use any darkish green around that colour in my opinion and it will be 'correct'. Whilst giving the Enamel version doesn't help I think it is European Dark green FS34092 (available Model Master acrylic) that is around the right colour.
