I have posted this topic on another site and got one response and the sound of crickets chirping in the wilderness, but I would like some more input before I buy a bunch of resin wheels. As we all know there is a plethora of aftermarket wheel sets, some with smooth, radial, diamond or other treads. I have the Eduard FAA hellcats kit and was shocked to see how terrible the tires were, surely tires really didn't look like the little donuts that the kit passes for real tires. So, does anybody know what types of tire treads the Hellcat and Corsair used, and was there a difference between what the FAA and USN used, especially on carriers. I am assuming diamond tread but as usual could be wrong.
They put nice resin wheels and tires in the USN boxings...

The plastic ones are attrocious and Eduard admitted they scrooched the pooch. I have one on the shelf of doom (cat knocked it off the bench and then gnawed on the cowl!). If the resin tires are still in there, you're welcome to them if you're in the States, just drop me a line - barrowb98 (at) comcast (dot) net. If you want to go aftermarket (according to some the Eduard resin ones are still a little skinny, but they look fine to me) Ultracast makes them.
