Unorthodox modification

Reaching the finishing stages of my 1/48 scale F/A-18C Hasegawa hornet. It has metal landing gear, and it just would NOT sit level after wheels were attached. This even after subtle bending to try to line it up better. Had to slightly flatten the bottom of one tire (not noticeable unless you picked it up and turned it over). This did the trick and now it's level.
Anyone else ever have to do something similar?

I have more than a few models with perfectly level wings, and dangerously low tire pressure.

At a local IPMS contest I once mentioned the trick to an acquaintance with flight line experience; he assures me real airplanes rarely sit perfectly level. But when a judge gets that ruler out, I am not about to try and convince him!
