Has anyone gotten tiny white particles on the model after spraying Testors Dullcote?

Occasionally I see tiny snow-white particles scattered over the surface of a model after airbrushing. Normally the Dullcote gives a great finish but sometimes disaster strikes. Its not a big deal on light colored paint but on a dark finish its ruination. It can carefully be scraped off but that is hard on the paint. And there are usually dozens of the little spots. It seems to be happening with "veteran" bottles of Dullcote. Anybody else have this problem or am I a unique species?

Caused by moisture...

I bet this happens most often to you on humid days - water gets in the line (if you're using an airbrush) or in the spray and you get the white particles. (I occasionally postulate about doing this on purpose to simulate ice build-up on the outside of NASA rockets, when and if I ever build one!) I have much less problem with that than others because I thin dullcote heavily with lacquer thinner, and I live in Northern California, where humidity tends to be low.

If you wonder why Northern Californians are laid back, it's because we aren't stressing about our dullcotes.*

(*Note: this may apply to an extremely limited number of Californians)

You may have something there.......

I live in s. Florida (not by choice) where the humidity is stuff of legend. I have an in-line moisture trap. But it doesn't happen with new bottles of the stuff. Maybe I should do like you and try to recreate it and see what happens. Thanks for taking the time to respond here.

Also happens to me here in Lima, Peru. I was blaming the product. Now I know more. Thanks.

My solution...

... Is to strain my paint through panty hose before spraying. You are getting partially dried particles that dry when they hit the air. Strain your paint and look at all the clumps you catch!
