of a reissue of a mediocre kit that is still readily available. I was hoping for an all new (and good) kit, but unfortunately its just a rebox. I would imagine the Revell reissue wont have any etch or resin included like the original either. Its no different than Tamiya putting an Italeri kit in their box which people always complain about.

Except-

that this time the new box will cost less than the old box, instead of the other way around. That's a plus, at least. Still, I'd rather that Revell did their own.
My reply purely focussed on Lynn's reply which brought back some memories. My reply was not meant to belittle or brush aside the frustration you expressed about the fact that it is just a re-box of the Special Hobby kit. It would certainly have been much better not to say great if Revell would have issued a new and dimensionally more accurate kit. Would be nice if the gave the P-39 the same treatment as the Uhu which rumour has it, is excellent.
The kit has some notable accuracy bugs and the general molding is not really up to date in character. Almost any new tool by a major company would be an improvement.
Looks like an excellent opportunity for an aftermarket plug for the fuselage.

Perhapse some enterprising resin caster will offer a plug to lenthen the fuselage I believe 6.6mm. I want to build a Cobra II racer as well as a military P39 Airacobra.
I'll probably end up correcting the fuselage with sheet styrene.
While at it 12 port exhaust stacks would be an excellent addition.

Anybody else think the windscreen is too sloped?

I got halfway through the kit: lengthening the fuselage was easier than it sounds, but I couldn't figure out how to change the angle of the windscreen without vacuforming a new one. I put it aside and started the 1/48 Hasegawa.
Is it just me, or is that Special Hobby windscreen just looking wrong?
