A Sabre in Glossy Sea Blue--what's not to like?

I built the same airplane in 1/72 a few years ago, to this day one of my favorite small-scale projects.

Nice! What kit?

I'm guessing it's a converted Hasegawa F-86?

Looks fantastic, awesome cockpit work.

Wow! You big-scale folks often impress the bejasus out of me. Not for me to build ...

... for several reasons. But I appreciate masterful work when I see it.
Two thumbs up happy.gif

Tailhook? Folding wings?

August 2 2012, 3:05 PM

This particular airplane didn't have 'em. It was an off-the-rack E Sabre, only change was 20mm cannon armament instead of 6x.50s.

754 and 755 had navalized landing gear and whatnot but IIRC no armament at all. (Been a while since I did the research.)

Thank You For Kind Words

Thanks for sharing your model. I saw a maybe 1/72 scale XFJ-2 (755) in IMPS Journal. That inspired me to try this. Yes, I used the Hasegawa F-86F. I had to add 4 20MM cannon ports and change wing. I originally had one of the gun bays open but didn't like the way it turned out. I even had guns from Trumpeter F-8 ready. The cockpit is CAM resin. I put probably 3 coats of future over blue paint/decals. The decals were one of most challenging parts, MANY letters, numbers, stencils from various sources.

Excellent work!

August 2 2012, 8:21 PM

Just figured out what to do with the Hasegawa F86 I have in the stack...

More info/pics would be great...

After decades of study, it has become obvious that Murphy was an optimist...
