Looks like a Vietnam era Huey -

It would be nice to see a VN vintage AH-1G Cobra at some point.

They have changed thier minds

March 20 2017, 10:38 AM

on the scale. So for now they will be doing a 1/48th scale kit of the Vietnam era UH-1D/H. Hopefully we'll see the larger one with good sales of this one.

Was really looking forward to this in 1/35th!

March 20 2017, 9:46 AM

A big disappointment! I'm not opposed to 1/48th-but this one cries out for 1/35th! I'm still hoping for a 35th CH-53 eventually! From what I heard it came very close to happening some years back.

One can only hope a 1/48 UH-1B or C is in the pipeline.

Bo would be pleased.

Damn!

March 20 2017, 1:22 PM

I just passed on 3 different 1/35 MRC/Academy Hueys at the Keller swap meet yesterday because I thought a new tool kit was coming. Maybe they got cold feet because somebody else is coming out with one? Tamiya? One can dream.

Don't panic the 1/35th version coming

March 20 2017, 1:49 PM

Glen from Kitty Hawk has posted on ARC that the 1/35th version of the UH-1D will be coming along with new 1/35 Cobras. Here is a link to the thread on the relevant page. You may want to browse the whole thread to get the full story.

http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/index.php?/topic/294463-kitty-hawk-135th-scale-huey/&page=10

Also, Floyd was one of the consultants on the design of the kit so we know that the info Kitty Hawk got is good.

Even though I am a 1/48th builder even I am interested after building the Revell kit so long ago. I also know that helicopters are a hard sell for some reason and I applaud Kitty Hawk for venturing down this alley. They already have several helicopters in their 1/48th line up and I have most of them.

Although having said that it does seem that Italeri ignores that and keeps issuing them both in 1/72nd and 1/48.

Cheers
Chris

I wish.....

March 22 2017, 7:19 AM

.....The KH designers had someone like Floyd to shepherd their aircraft kits through development. The Banshee was a total POS. I can live with a few minor boo boo's but there was nothing on that kit that was even close to right. I mean when the landing gear doors are totally different from the actual wells they are supposed to cover, that is pretty bad. How the hell do you miss that!? I wanted one of those but I'm not spending $70-$80 on something that bad. KH really has some nerve. The should pull the kit from the market and reimburse everyone that bought it and start again from scratch.

VERY excited to see this

March 20 2017, 2:10 PM

Can finally pitch the old ESCI kit. The Huey is hands down the most important aircraft of the Vietnam war and its about time to get a contemporary kit of it.

I'm sticking to 1/48 for all my helo builds. Now I just have to move this 1/35 DAP Black hawk.
