in the roll that Bogart had in original film.

They kept close to the same in this new film. In the original the German "ME-109" was played by a P-51 as I recall. What was in this new film. The wing plan form looked different from a P-51 and I didn't recognize the aircraft. Great to see an M3 rolling about though

That is a 1995 film with an original Australian M-3 Grant (not a US Lee as in the 1943 movie) and a Fiat G59 aircraft as per Wiki.

Sarah, 1943 with H. Bogart is one of my all time

favorites war movies. That movie was about an American tank crew trying to transport some English soldiers to safety. Their tank was a M3 Lee. Is the new movie using an English Grant tank because there aren't any M3 Lees still operational?

it looks to also be a Grant but minus

the small machine gun turret atop the main turret.
It is definitely not a true Lee tank.

The plot is very similar to the cowboy movie with Broderick Crawford as a cavalry Sergeant holding off a bunch of thirsty Apache.

The M3 is now in Ottawa

June 17 2017, 11:26 PM

Hi:

The M3 Lee (it is a Lee, although the machine gun sub-turret has been replaced with a split hatch) that was used to film this movie is now on display at the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa. It's got Jim Belushi's signature on the inside of one of the hull doors.

Cheers,

Scott
