Today marks the 75th Anniversary of this major turning point in the struggle for Guadalcanal during WW II. Please remember all the brave men on both sides who gave their lives for their countries.

Also wrote "Last Stand of the Tin Can Sailors", about the Battle off Samar and Taffy 3, and "The Fleet at Flood Tide". All outstanding works.

Also "Japanese Destroyer Captain" by Hara

An excellent read, both from a technical and an anecdotal standpoint on the naval war of 1942/43 in the Solomons. Especially good for showing how the Japanese lived and fought and what was happening in Rabaul at this time.

Also have this book. Been many years since I last read it, need to pull it out and read it again. Very vivid account of his ship's, (IJN Amatzukaze), involvement in the bar room brawl with the lights shot out.
