looks fantastic. It is great that Tamiya released it just before the holidays. I can see many happy modellers finding one of these under their Christmas tree.

The price seems also right, 3,700 yen is about 33 USD, not expensive.

This kit is what the Eduard G-6 was supposed to be. Thank you Tamiya!

I am getting the distinct impression....

November 14 2017, 10:53 AM

....that The surface detail on the Tamiya kit will not be anywhere in the same league as the Eduard kit. To me, the surface details on the Eduard kit are superb and a huge attraction to me. Both Tamiya and Hasegawa are weak here.

Good point,

November 14 2017, 11:19 AM

but that's a matter of personal choice. I like Eduard's riveted surface detail, but the kit still has some important errors, like the oversized exhaust openings and the exhausts themselves, an error that is practically unfixable.

Never seen that. However...

November 16 2017, 7:56 AM

... the error on the built kit is much less noticeable than it is when still in the sprues, and less than generally reported. It also has to be said that the Zvezda 109F kit comes with two sets of exhausts, one (to be used) sensibly smaller than Ed's, while another just a tad so.

Here is a link to Spencer Pollards review from yesterday. He makes a point of letting folks know it won't be available until at least Feb '18.

Tamiya has been known to release some of their

new kits in the USA/Canada before the home market. Possibly the Feb. release date is for the home market? Then again perhaps they have another kit in the queue , armor of ship that has first call on the molding machines...

From 7:40 to 8:20 in the video. Quite explicit, not for Christmas.

109 release date...

November 14 2017, 1:48 PM

Hey everyone!

The Feb 2018 release date is what was given to me by the Hobby Company in the UK and they were very explicit in ensuring that I mentioned that that was when the kit would hit the shelves. I have no reason to believe it will appear anywhere else before that date. I hope this helps!
